Where do Plot Points come from and when do they expire?
Subscription points, Boosters, welcome credits, referral rewards, codes and refunds each have their own validity. Here is the full list, the order they are spent in and how you are warned before they expire.
Your balance is made up of batches of Plot Points from different sources, and each batch has its own expiry. This article lists every source, explains the order in which batches are spent and shows where to look before points expire.
Sources and validity
| Source | When you get it | Valid for |
|---|---|---|
| Subscription allowance | At the start of each billing period | Until the billing period ends |
| Booster | When a one-time purchase completes | Never expires |
| Welcome credits | When you create your account | 30 days |
| Referral reward | When a friend you invited subscribes to a paid plan | 30 days |
| Invitation or redeem code | When you enter a valid code | 30 days |
| Refund | When a generation fails | 30 days |
| Credits added by support | When our team adds points to your account | 30 days |
Subscription points do not roll over. Whatever is left when your billing period ends expires, and a fresh allowance is issued for the new period. See what happens at renewal.
Which points are spent first
When you generate, Plot Party always takes from the batch that expires soonest, whatever its source. In practice this means:
- Short-lived batches such as welcome credits, rewards, codes and refunds are usually used first. If your subscription renews even sooner, the remaining subscription points go first instead.
- Your subscription allowance is used before anything permanent.
- Booster points are always used last, since they never expire.
This order protects you from losing points: anything that could expire is spent before anything that cannot.
Knowing before points expire
- Open the account menu by clicking your balance. If any points expire within the next 7 days, a notice at the top shows how many.
- In the plan dialog, the Your billing panel shows an Expiring soon line with the amount and date.
- In Credit History, every addition that can expire lists its expiry date.
Expired points are removed automatically and cannot be restored. If you regularly have subscription points left over, a lower plan might suit you better; if you regularly run out, a Booster or a higher plan will. See upgrading and downgrading.
